NPS LAUNCHES OPERATION ‘ONDOA JANGILI’ IN MARSABIT AND ISIOLO COUNTIES

The National Police Service has today, February 3, 2025 officially launched a special security operation dubbed ‘Operation Ondoa Jangili’ to flush out hideouts used by the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) within Marsabit and Isiolo counties. The launch, which was held in Marsabit County was attended by the Deputy Inspector General Administration Police Service Mr. Gilbert Masengeli and  Director DCI, Mr. Mohamed I. Amin. The high-level operation will target criminals conducting illegal operations that pose a serious threat to Kenyan national security. These include arms, drug and human trafficking, illegal mining, instigating tribal conflicts and kidnapping for ransom especially  in Sololo, Moyale, North Horr, and Merti Sub-counties.  
In his address Mr. Masengeli assured the local communities in the aforementioned areas of their security while also appealing to them to remain calm and cooperate with the security teams on the ground. Also present during the launch of the operation were GSU Commandant, Mr. Ranson Lolmodooni, SAIG, Eastern Regional Commissioner, Mr. Paul Rotich, Eastern Regional Police Commander, Mr. Charles Naibei, AIG, Eastern Regional Administration Police Commander, Mr. Barasa Lusweti, CP, and Eastern Regional Criminal Investigation Officer, Mr. Michael K. Sang’, CP amongst other regional and county security team members.
