Directorate of Administration, Planning and Finance

The Directorate of Administration, Planning, and Finance is one of the directorates based at the Inspector General’s office, National Police Service Headquarters having been mooted in January 2015 and is headed by a Director.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordination and Preparation of Policies, Plans and Works for entire National Police Service.
  • Initiating Implementation of Police Development Strategies and Projects.
  • Facilitating the establishment and Gazettement of police formations, stations, posts, units and registration of police plots and buildings.
  • Reviewing, monitoring and evaluating progress of police plans, on rehabilitation and development of new constructions.
  • Oversee the functions of Logistics and coordination of transport issues.
  • Strengthen linkage with stakeholders through various networking and collaboration mechanisms.
  • Liaising with The National Treasury and other Government agencies on financial matters.
  • Ensure resource appropriation based on demand, budget and priorities and ensuring strict adherence to budgets.
  • Repairing and maintaining police infrastructure and support the facilities through the Services.
  • Provision of kitting of all officers to laid down scales through the Services.
  • Planning, Implementing and Controlling the efficient flow of goods and services.
  • Advice supply chain management function within the Services.
  • Carry out planning to achieve optimum balances of needs or demands.
  • Oversee the development of financial Management strategy to ensure efficient utilization of resources within the Service in accordance with the public function management Act, 2012.
  • Coordinate all the matters of leasing progromme with the National Treasury.
  • Advice on contract and other services, procurement processes to ensure value for money for the Service.
  • Prepare annual short-term, medium and long-term budgets for the Services.
  • Act as the National Police Service representative at the Ministerial Tender Committee meeting.
