𝗡𝗣𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗡𝗖𝗧𝗖 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗗 𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗡 𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡, 𝗩𝗜𝗢𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗠 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗥𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗠 𝗜𝗡 𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗜 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗬

Yesterday, officers from the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), in collaboration with the Malindi Sub-County Security Team and the Langobaya Division Security Team, conducted a meeting at the Shakahola Dispensary Grounds in Kilifi County to sensitize members of the public on the dangers of radicalization, violent extremism and terrorism. Discussions focused on the dangers of radicalization through distorted religious ideologies, lessons learnt from the Shakahola tragedy, early warning signs of radicalization, indicators of violent extremism, identification of suspicious activities, the importance of timely reporting to security agencies, and the vital role of community members in preventing radicalisation and promoting peaceful coexistence. 

The meeting further underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the public, the National Police Service, the National Counter Terrorism Centre, and other security stakeholders in addressing security threats. By enhancing public awareness and encouraging community participation in identifying and reporting suspicious activities, the forum also strengthened local capacity to prevent radicalization, violent extremism and terrorism, while fostering trust, vigilance and national cohesion. 

Similar community engagement forums will continue to be organized to sustain public awareness and reinforce collective efforts towards maintaining lasting peace and security. The National Police Service remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering and promoting positive relationships with the broader society.
