NPS AND EACC LAUNCH EXAMINATION INTO SYSTEMS, POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND PRACTICES OF WORK IN THE NPS

Today, 10th February 2025, the National Police Service (NPS), in collaboration with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), launched an examination into its systems, policies, procedures, and practices to identify and eliminate corruption loopholes. This initiative aligns with NPS commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability, as outlined in Article 244(b) of the Constitution. In his remarks, the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja, reiterated the NPS’s commitment to strengthening oversight mechanisms, automating services, and leveraging technology including toll-free hotlines and anonymous reporting platforms to combat corruption effectively. He also expressed his gratitude to development partners for their dedication to making this programme a success and highlighted future initiatives, such as the introduction of body cameras and policy reviews, as key steps toward enhancing transparency.
The Chairperson of the EACC, Dr. David Oginde, commended the partnership between the NPS and EACC, emphasising its potential to transform the National Police Service. He clarified that this initiative is not an investigative exercise but a proactive, preventive measure to enhance integrity within the Service. Also present were the DIG-APS, Mr. Gilbert Masenegeli, the Principal Deputy to the DIG-KPS, Madam Miriam Muli, SAIG, the Deputy-DCI, Mr. John Onyango, SAIG, the Commandant of NPC Embakasi ‘A’ Campus, Mr. David Lomwatu, SAIG, and other senior officers.
