NPS AND CPSU CONDUCT INSPECTION OF SPORTS FACILITIES
The Chairperson of Athletics in the National Police Service (NPS), Mr. Francis Ndiema, SAIG, today hosted representatives from the Commonwealth Police Sports Union (CPSU) for an inspection tour of existing sports facilities in the National Police Service. During the inspection, chairpersons and team managers from various NPS sports disciplines—including Judo, Kabaddi, Karate, Boxing, Darts, and Taekwondo—presented reports highlighting key areas of need for each sport. The joint team assessed the condition of existing facilities, identifying worn-out infrastructure requiring urgent upgrades to support athlete development and training.
Mr. Sunil Kumar, CPSU Secretary, commended the NPS for its steadfast support of sports and its openness to collaboration. He emphasised the importance of shared arena experiences and exchange programmes with international partners as essential to advancing sports growth within police services globally. The inspection marks a significant step towards strengthening NPS sports and enhancing international cooperation in the development of police athletics.
Mr.Sunil was accompanied by CPSU officials, including Mr. Brijraj Singh Shekhawat, Mr.Laxman Rawat, and Mrs. Nirmla Rawat. Senior NPS officials in attendance included the Commanding Officer of the National Police College Embakasi ‘B’ Campus, Mr William K.Samoei, AIG; Director of Sports, KPS, Mr Isaac Sang, CP; Chief Instructor at NPC Embakasi ‘B’ Campus, Mr.Christopher Musyoka, CP; KPS Public Information Officer and Chairperson of NPS Taekwondo, Mr. Jared Ojuok, SSP; and Head of Faculty, Field Operations at NPC Embakasi ‘B’ Campus, Ms. Justine Mbatha, SP, among others.
