UNCUSTOMED GOODS SEIZED IN DAWN CRACKDOWN IN BUSIA

During this festive season, holidaymakers especially those who set the stage by downing a few sips for the road are being cautioned that greedy businesspersons are trading in illicit liqour and may be out to sell anything for selfish gain. Whereas many prohibited brands of alcohol and traditional liquor have been intercepted and perpetrators dealt with according to law, more uncustomed products are still in circulation in what appears to be a daring move by the traders to sell substandard and harmful drinks to revellers.Just yesterday, detectives in Teso South conducted a stealth operation at a homestead within Ochude area of Busia, discovering over three tonnes of suspected Ethanol parked in 111 - 30L jerrycans. 
In the early morning raid at the home of Mildred Odongo, 58 jerrycans were found in one of the rooms while the other 53 containers were already parked on an Isuzu D-Max ready for distribution. The detectives who operated jointly with KRA officials and KPS officers from Adungosi Police Station managed to arrest five suspects; Isaiah Keta aged 27 (driver), Patrick Limo, 25, Chrispinus Ilukol, 30, Kelvin Ochuka, 32 and Isaac Omoit aged 19 yrs. The multi-agency team processed the scene and secured the exhibit, including the vehicle registration number KCY 332F and the 3,330 litres of ethanol which has been secured at a safe custody.The home owner and her other associates who evaded the arrest are being pursued.
