POLICE IMPOUND ETHANOL IN MARACH, BUSIA
Police officers from Busia Police Station received information late last night about a lorry suspected of transporting illegal substances. The officers were deployed to Marach area, where they intercepted the vehicle. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be carrying a consignment of 35 plastic drums, each with a capacity of approximately 250 litres, containing what is suspected to be ethanol. The total volume of the illicit substance seized amounted to 8,750 litres. The driver and one other occupant of the vehicle were placed in custody pending arraignment, and the vehicle was escorted to Busia Police Station. This operation underscores the commitment of the National Police Service to curbing the illegal trade and transport of hazardous substances.
