POLICE CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP HELD IN NAIROBI
The 12th Edition of the National Police Service Cross-Country Championship was held today January 19, 2024 at Jockey Club, Ngong' Race Course in Nairobi. Beatrice Chebet (Eastern Region) and Daniel Simiu (Rift Valley Region) won the 10KM Senior Women and Men races respectively.
In Mixed Relays, Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) took the lead while Eastern Region and GSU took second and third positions respectively.
Addressing the athletes on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IG Japhet Koome, DIG-Kenya Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja, advised the athletes to maintain discipline and abstain from doping. Similar remarks were made by the President of Athletics Kenya, Lt. Gen (Rtd) Jackson Tuwei.
Several NPS Officers graced the occasion, among them, Commandant GSU- Mr. Eliud Lagat, SAIG; Dr. Masoud Mwinyi, SAIG and Mr. John Onyango, SAIG representing the DIG-APS and Director DCI respectively; Director Internal Affairs Unit-Mrs. Judy Lamet, AIG, and Regional Police Commanders Mr. Joseph Napeiyan, AIG (Eastern) and Tom Odero, AIG (Rift Valley) and the PS Athletics Coach Sgt. Isaac Kirwa.
