𝗜𝗚-𝗡𝗣𝗦 𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗦 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗞𝗘𝗡𝗬𝗔'𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗡𝗘 – 𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗕𝗔 𝗗𝗔𝗬

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, yesterday, 27th August 2026, joined His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto, CGH, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces; the Deputy President, Hon. Prof. Kithure Kindiki; senior Government officials; and members of the public at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) for the Katiba Day celebrations. The event commemorates Kenya’s constitutional journey and marks the sixteenth anniversary of the 2010 Constitution. This year’s theme is: "The People's Power, Constitutionalism and Democracy Ahead of 2027."

In his address, President Ruto drew attention to Article 21 of the Constitution, which enjoins State organs and public officers to observe, uphold and apply the Bill of Rights. He further reminded the nation of its obligation under Article 43 to progressively realise the economic and social rights of all citizens. The IG was accompanied by DIG KPS Mr. Eliud Lagat, DIG APS Mr. Gilbert Masengeli and DCI Director Mr. Mohamed Amin among other senior NPS officers. The National Police Service reaffirms its commitment to serving the public with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, while adhering fully to the Constitution and all other relevant laws.
