IG KANJA AND RECSA EXECUTIVE SECRETARY BETINDJI PIERRE IN A MEETING
Executive Secretary for the Regional Centre on Small Arms and Light Weapons (RECSA), Mr.Betindji Jean Pierre today, On October 24, 2024, paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja at NPS Headquarters. The two leaders held a discussion on the regional security efforts to control the proliferation of illicit firearms, as well as the ongoing plans for the upcoming RECSA meeting in Nairobi scheduled for next month. RECSA Executive Secretary Mr. Pierre committed to strengthening the capacity of RECSA Member States in marking of firearms, armouries, training, and destruction of illicit firearms. IG Kanja also reaffirmed the commitment of NPS to continue supporting RECSA in its mandate to combat illicit firearms. RECSA and the Kenya National Focal Point both work closely with NPS in the implementation of the Nairobi Protocol on the Prevention, Control and Reduction of SALW in the Great Lakes Region, the Horn of Africa and Bordering States.
