DIG LAGAT, DIG MASENGELI EMBARK ON A SECURITY ASSESSMENT OF COAST REGION
Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Mr. Eliud Lagat (Kenya Police Service) and Mr. Gilbert Masengeli (Administration Police Service) are in Coast Region assessing security situation in Tana River and Lamu Counties, following the recent violence witnessed in Tana River County, which has resulted in displacement of persons and loss of lives. The DIGs who visited Anole Primary School briefed the local community members on measures that the Government has taken to restore normalcy and ensure learning activities are uninterrupted. They therefore called on the locals to work together with security teams to ensure that peace is fully restored.
They later stopped at Nanighi, and ordered the immediate deployment of GSU officers to enhance security in learning institutions as students prepare for the upcoming national exams. Later, the DIGs held a peace meeting with local elders and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) at the Bura Irrigation Centre, where they commended NGAO for their support of the multi-agency efforts to restore peace in the area. At Manda FOB, the DIGs were briefed on operations geared towards addressing terrorism in the country. The DIGs are accompanied by KPS Director of Logistics - Mr. Peter Ndung'u, SAIG, RPC Coast Region- Mr. George Seda, RCIO Coast- Mr. Adan Guyo, CP, CIPU Commander Coast- Mr. Samuel Ndung'u, CP. Also present were Col Birech and Lamu County Commander - Mr Changach, CP.
