IG KANJA MEETS REGIONAL AND FORMATION COMMANDERS
The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja today held a conference meeting with all Regional and Formation Commanders in furtherance of the intended process of examination into the systems, policies, procedures and practices of work in the National Police Service by the EACC at the National Police College Embakasi ‘A’ campus which was launched last Monday 10th February 2025.
In his remarks, the IG, while appreciating the work done by the Commanders, acknowledged that the existing standards must improve at all levels for an effective and efficient Police Service. He reiterated that the exercise to be conducted by the EACC is not an investigation but rather a stimulus in fulfilment of Article 244 (b) of the Constitution of Kenya; which mandates the National Police Service to prevent corruption and to promote and practice transparency and accountability. It is the intention of the IG to transform police stations into centres of excellence in effective service delivery and operations.
The IG also noted that in an effort to curb corruption and improve service delivery, NPS has embarked on implementing several measures including a robust automation of police services and conducting of trainings designed to standardize and optimize services across the various areas of deployment within the National Police Service. National Police Service Commission CEO Mr. Peter Leley on his part stated that the Commission fully supports NPS' effort in eradicating corruption. He noted that NPSC is in the process of formulating a new recruitment module geared towards eradicating corruption during the recruitment process.
Also present at the meeting were the DIG-KPS Mr. Eliud Lagat, DIG-APS Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, senior EACC officials, and other senior NPSC officials.
