CS INTERIOR HON. MURKOMEN PRESIDES OVER POLICE CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen today, January 17, 2025 presided over the 13th Edition of the National Police Service Cross Country Championship 2025 at the Ngong' Racecourse, Nairobi. CS Murkomen who was the Chief Guest, commended the athletes for exemplary performance and assured them of Government’s support, adding that sports is essential in enhancing mental health among Police Officers. Also present was the Chairperson, National Police Service Commission, Mr. Eliud Kinuthia and DIG-APS Mr. Gilbert Masengeli and many Senior NPS Directors and Commanders.
In his address, the DIG-KPS Mr. Eliud Lagat, who was representing the IG –NPS  expressed the commitment of NPS in protecting the discipline and integrity of sports in fighting malpractices such as doping. In the 10km senior women race Sheila Chelagat from Central Region was the winner, while Daniel Simiyu from Rift Valley Region won in the 10km senior men race. Several NPS world athletic champions including Beatrice Chebet, Janet Jepkosgei, Ochichi, Yego were all present. NPS performed excellently with a win of 3 gold medals for Kenya in France last year, all won by NPS athletes including Corporal Beatrice Chebet who also won in today's championship.
