NPS WRAPS UP DAY ONE OF THE 13TH EDITION OF THE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP 2025
The Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang'ata buzzed with energy as the first day of the 13th edition of the National Police Service (NPS) Track and Field Championships 2025 got underway today. The highly anticipated two-day event has drawn top-tier athletes from various regions and units within the Service, all vying for a spot on the NPS team that will advance to the national qualifiers for Team Kenya. The national selection event is slated for 26th–28th of this month. Notable athletes with regional and international accolades, including Caroline Nyaga, William Rayan, and Wycliffe Kinyamal, are among the participants. Among the day’s highlights was Abel Kipsang’s commanding performance in the men’s 1500m race. Fresh from his victory at the Kip Keino Classic, Kipsang once again displayed his dominance, securing victory for the Eastern region.
In the men’s 10,000m event, World Championships silver medalist Daniel Simiu Ebenyo lived up to expectations, cruising to victory while representing the Rift Valley region, with Joseph Kiprono Kiptum of the North Eastern region finishing a close second. As always, the tug of war was a fan favourite, with GSU and ASTU advancing to tomorrow’s final. Meanwhile, Team Nairobi dominated the mixed relay event, which is rapidly gaining popularity. The race features male and female athletes working together to pass the baton seamlessly with precision and speed. As the first day concludes, the National Police Service congratulates all athletes and wishes them the best of luck in tomorrow’s finals and ultimately, in their pursuit of representing NPS on the national stage.
