INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE KANJA OFFICIALLY OPENS UN POLICE COMMANDERS COURSE AT IPSTC KAREN

Inspector General of Police Mr. Douglas Kanja, today January 13, 2025, officially opened the United Nations Police Commanders Course at the International Peace Support Training Centre- Karen, Nairobi. He was received by the Director IPSTC, Brigadier Joyce Sitienei. The two weeks' course has 15 participants drawn from 10 countries, and is aimed at preparing the officers for leadership roles in the various UN peace support operations. In his remarks, IG Kanja, an alumnus of IPSTC Karen commended the course participants, and underscored the importance of the training in equipping police for the dynamic nature of modern UN Peace Support Operations, and stated that NPS remains one of the key Police Contributing Countries to peacekeeping missions and Peace Support Operations. 
he IG added that Kenyan Police Officers have successfully served on missions in many countries, including the current Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support Mission, which is collaborating with Haiti National Police to protect civilians and restore security. In attendance were Mr Yenigun Ata-Head of recruitment & Selection Section (UN police Division; Mr Steve O'Donoghue-Police Advisor BPST-A and NPS Spokesperson Dr. Resila Onyango, AIG.
