PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT TRAINING PROGRAM FOR POLICE LAUNCHED AT AFRICA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY, NAIROBI

The National Police Service in collaboration with Africa International University (AIU), and Disability Mainstreaming Foundation (DMF-K) today, November 13, 2024 launched the Psychosocial Support Training Program for police officers at Africa International University, Nairobi. The program launched today by Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja aims at training and supporting NPS Officers on mental health. IG Kanja underscored the importance of training and mental health in his priority of transforming police stations in Kenya to be centres of excellence in service delivery to the public.
On his part, AIU Vice Chancellor Rev. Dr. Nelson Makanda emphasized that mental health transcends physical health and directly impacts the well-being of the NPS Officers. Also present were the Deputy National Security Advisor/former IG-Mr. Joseph Boinnet, NPSC Chairperson-Mr. Eliud Kinuthia, DIG- KPS - Mr. Eliud Lagat, DIG -APS - Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, and DCI Director Mr. Mohammed Amin, and DMF-K Chairperson Dr. Denis Junior.
