Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat is today concluding his three-days tour of police stations within Rift Valley Region, that began on December 5, 2024, with impromptu stops at Kapenguria Police Station and Makutano Police Post (West Pokot County), as well as Moi's Bridge and Kamukunji Police Stations (Uasin Gishu Counties). He later visited Meteitei Police Station in Tinderet, Nandi County to check on the progress of constructing a new police station.
DIG Lagat's preference for impromptu station visits as opposed to formal visits is to get a first-hand experience about the working conditions of officers and service delivery to members of public. His initiative aligns with the Inspector General, Mr. Douglas Kanja's agenda to transform police stations into centres of excellence in police operations. In all the police premises, he inspected various sections including the Report Office, Armoury, Cells, offices with special interest on the Child Protection Unit/Gender Desk. His address to the Officers emphasized the importance of service delivery, mental health, and police work ethics while incorporating teamwork and multi-agency approach. Accompanying the DIG is KPS Director of Logistics, Mr. Peter Ndung’u, SAIG, and Mr. Reuben Kemboi, SSP.
