DIG-KPS COMMISSIONS UTALII POLICE STATION AND VISITS KASARANI POLICE STATION
The Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service (KPS), Mr. Eliud Lagat, on 15th August 2025, commissioned the Utalii Police Station in Mathare, Ruaraka Constituency, Nairobi. The station, funded by the Ruaraka Constituency NG-CDF for the 2022/2023 financial year, was built to address the issues of insecurity in the area, which has experienced a rise in criminal incidents recently. Speaking to residents, who had turned up in large numbers, the DIG urged the public to partner with and maintain a good relationship with officers, as well as report criminal activities for prompt police action. Furthermore, the DIG commended the area MP, Hon. T.J. Kajwang, for his support in funding the station through the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
Hon. T.J. Kajwang stated that the presence of the police station would reduce criminal activities in the area, particularly in Mradi, where cases of mugging and stabbing have been prevalent. Additionally, residents who spoke at the event expressed their gratitude to the area MP, Hon. T.J. Kajwang, and the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat, for deploying officers to the station. Thereafter, DIG Lagat accompanied by the Commandant of the General Service Unit, Mr. Ranson Lolmodooni, S/AIG; the Director of Logistics, KPS, Mr. Peter Ndung'u, SAIG; and Nairobi Region Police Commander, Mr. George Seda, AIG; visited Kasarani Police Station and held a closed-door meeting with senior officers from the sub-county to assess service delivery to the public.
Also present at the meeting were the Kasarani Sub-County Police Commander, Mr. Emmanuel Rono (SSP); Deputy Sub-County Police Commander, Mr. Harrison Kiambuthi (ASP); and Sub-County Criminal Investigating Officer, Mr. Aloyce Mboya (ASP), among other senior officers.
