A PERFORMANCE TO REMEMBER: APS JAZZ BAND SHINES AT MOMBASA INTERNATIONAL SHOW 2025

The National Police Service proudly celebrates the Administration Police Service Jazz Band for their outstanding performances at the NPS exhibition Stand during the Mombasa International Show. Their captivating music has not only entertained visitors but also reinforced the band’s enduring role as a cultural and community bridge. Tracing its roots back to 1946 in Nyeri County, the band has grown from a small corps of drums into a fully-fledged marching band, and later gave birth to the famed Utawala Jazz Band in 1982. Over the years, it has graced national celebrations, state functions, community engagements, and international festivals, recording timeless hits such as Utanikumbuka, Salome, and Stella.

Beyond entertainment, the APS Band fulfills a vital mandate by fostering community relations, promoting national values, and advancing peace and cohesion through music. From presidential functions to grassroots outreach, their contribution continues to strengthen the bond between the Service and the people of Kenya. At the Mombasa International Show, the APS Jazz Band has once more shown that music remains a powerful tool for unity, education, and cultural pride.

The National Police Service celebrates the band’s outstanding role in branding the Service’s image and enriching the visitor experience at this year’s show.
