NPS STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION AND SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT TRAINING OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED IN NAIROBI
Yesterday, the National Police Service (NPS), in partnership with the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC), officially launched the Strategic Communication and Social Media Management Training at the KIMC Campus in Nairobi. The five-week programme brings together 17 officers from the National Police Service, Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The course aims to equip participants with essential competencies in strategic communication planning, crisis communication, social media governance, ethical exclusivity, and technical skills such as photography, videography, and video editing.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat, the Director of Logistics, Mr. Peter Ndung’u, SAIG, described the programme as a transformative initiative vital to aligning police communication with the rapidly evolving digital landscape. He emphasized that the training would enhance police-public engagement and promote responsible media management within the Service. For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of KIMC, Mr. Peter Wakoli, lauded the partnership between the two institutions and extended a warm welcome to the course participants.
He commended the NPS for its commitment to professional development and innovation in communication.
The National Police Service reaffirms its commitment to transparent, accountable, and citizen-centered policing, underpinned by effective communication that reflects the aspirations and values of the Kenyan people. Also in attendance were the DCI in charge of Corporate Affairs, Mr. John Marete, CP, and the Head of the APS Media Section, Mr. Terah Chadema, SSP, among other senior officers.
