Administration Police Service

The Administration Police Service is established by the Constitution of Kenya as one of the Services constituting the National Police Service. The constitution, administration, powers and functions of the Kenya Police Service are stipulated in part IV of the National Police Service Act, No. 11a of 2011.

Pursuant to section 27 of the Act the functions of the Administration Police Service shall be the -

a)    maintenance of law and order;

b)    preservation of peace;

c)    protection of life and property;

d)    provision of border patrol and border security;

e)    provision of specialised stock theft prevention services;

f)     protection of Government property, vital installations and strategic points as may be directed by the Inspector-General;

g)    rendering of support to Government agencies in the enforcement of administrative functions and the exercise of lawful duties;
