The Inspector General of Police Mr. Hilary Mutyambai today launched the International Police Association (IPA)

nationwide season two tree planting program aimed at planting a total of over one million seedlings in various police establishments in the country.

Launching the exercise at the Police K9 Unit in Langata, Nairobi Mr. Mutyambai said, the National Police Service is committed towards  enhancing  people centred policing  for the provision of safety and security to the country.

He said the planting tree exercise under the theme: My Tree, My Peace, My Future is aimed at providing and preserving peace through active partnerships and building of friendship.

As the service, the Inspector General reminded the members of the public that there is a direct link between the way we manage our resources and peace and observed that environmental management acts in one way or another, as a crime control measure.

Mr. Mutyambai called upon members of the public, organizations and individuals to partner with the police to make the country greener and safer.

He hailed the Kenya Forest Research Institute (Kefri), M.P. Shah Hospital, The Singh Bahra Family and individual police officers among others who in one way or another, contributed towards the success of the tree planting exercise.

The Secretary General of the International Police Association Mr. Jared Ojuok said Police Commanders from counties currently experiencing long rains, will continue receiving seedlings for planting in all police facilities.

He said, similar exercise conducted last year saw the planting of 230,000 trees in 30 counties that received sufficient short rains.
