NPS WOMEN AND MEN VOLLEYBALL TEAMS WIN NYERERE INTERNATIONAL MEMORIAL CUP (2018-10-14).
 
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations women  and the General Service Unit men volleyball teams have today won the Nyerere International Memorial tournament at the Taifa Stadium, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The DCI team beat their Tanzanian Contenders Jeshi Stars  3-0 to clinch the cup while the GSU team never spared their fellow Kenyan team, Mombasa Prisons Volleyball team to win by beating them 3-1 during a two and half hour battle. 
 
Out of the twenty volleyball teams that participated in the tournament, only one team from Tanzania, Jeshi Stars made it to the finals but was floored by the DCI team. 
 
Earlier in the day, the DCI team beat Jeshi la Kujenga Taifa (JKT) 3-0,while GSU team clobbered Zanzibar Police 3-0 before dehorning Faru Volley ball Club 3-0.
 
The two Volleyball Champions were also awarded one million Tanzania shillings each, an equivalent of Kshs. 50,000 each. Each of the players also received a medal.
 
An Assistant Inspector General  Mr. Sospeter Munyi who represented the Inspector General during the tournament said such kind of interactions will greatly enhance  unity, peace and brotherhood within the East African Community.
 
Mr. Munyi said the late Nyerere stood for peace and unity not only in Tanzania but also in the East African region  and the entire continent of Africa.
