 PRESS STATEMENT

The attention of the National Police Service has been drawn to press reports to the effect that some politicians are mobilizing crowds to march to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to receive Hon.Raila Odinga on Friday 17th November 2017, upon his return from an overseas trip.

We have also learnt that a rally has been planned for Thursday, 16th November 2017 to prepare for the reception.

In view of the foregoing, we wish to advise as follows:

  1. Anyone wishing to organize a public procession or meeting, must comply with the Public Order Act (2016).
  1. Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is a protected area, hence access is open to bonafide travelers and all others with legitimate business at the airport who must be subjected at all times to the standard security procedures .It is therefore not advisable to mobilize huge crowds to travel to that facility as it risks jeopardizing the safety of air operators, passengers and other airport users.

Those without valid reasons to enter the facility will be denied entry.  Therefore, those making plans for that day are advised accordingly.
