The Interior Cabinet Secretary Maj. Gen (Rtd) Joseph Nkaissery has said that enhanced cooperation among Eastern Africa Countries was the sure way to combat transnational criminal networks, that pose a security threat not only in the region but also the world at large.
This was contained in a speech read on his behalf by the Deputy Inspector General, Administration Police Service Mr. Samuel Arachi during the opening of The Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) organs Meeting in a Naivahsa hotel .
The recent terrorist attacks in Brussels come in the wake of Kenya commemorating the first anniversary of the Garrissa University College attacks, which took place on 2nd April 2015. This is a constant reminder that the threat we face as a country is global in nature and not restricted to our region. We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones during the two attacks.
The Inspector General of Police Mr. Joseph Boinnet has advised police athletes to uphold the law and prevail upon upcoming athletes to avoid taking or using drugs to enhance their performance.
Mr. Boinnet said doping was not only illegal but a threat to the health of those practicing the vice.
The IG was speaking at Jogoo house where he received a trophy won by the NPS during a cross County championship at Uhuru Gardens recently.
The Inspector General of Police Mr. Joseph Boinnet has directed police officers and other security agents to remain vigilant and ensure that nothing threatens the security of the country.
The IG noted with concern that political temperatures have started rising ahead of the general election scheduled for late next year hence need to remain alert.
Following investigations and intelligence pursuits that have been ongoing in regard to Mandera and Elwak Makkah Bus attacks, Police now do release photographs of the Al Shabaab terrorists who were involved in the attacks. The Police are calling on members of the public to offer any information regarding their whereabouts or any information that will lead to their capture. Information provided will be treated with utmost confidence and will go a long way in ensuring that the perpetrators of the Mandera Quarry attack and the Makkah Bus attack are brought to justice!
