 PRESS STATEMENT

The attention of the National Police Service has been drawn to press reports to the effect that some politicians are mobilizing crowds to march to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to receive Hon.Raila Odinga on Friday 17th November 2017, upon his return from an overseas trip.

We have also learnt that a rally has been planned for Thursday, 16th November 2017 to prepare for the reception.

PRESS STATEMENT-IMLU 

Our attention has been drawn to the report by Independent Medical Legal Unit (IMLU) alleging that they recorded 23 deaths during the period of elections between 8/8/2017 and 11/8/107, and further 13 deaths during the Fresh Presidential Elections between October 25th and 30th October 2017.

The truth is that from our records, during the period between 8/8/2017 and 11/8/2017, there were eleven (11) recorded fatalities under the following circumstances;

 PRESS RELEASE

Further to the statement that we yesterday the 26th day of October 2017, we promised to issue a comprehensive statement on the status of the security during the fresh Presidential Elections.

 Most Kenyans would by now know that most polling stations across the country opened yesterday on schedule, save for a few Counties. However, a number of Polling Stations were not opened or opened late due to various factors among them, failure of IEBC staff to report on duty, weather conditions, and refusal by hired transporters to release their vehicles.

DEMOS PRESS STATEMENT 

As the country goes into fresh Presidential Elections on 26th October 2017, we have witnessed an escalation of political rhetoric accompanied by assault and other forms of violence against innocent Kenyans. IEBC officials engaged in training and preparations for the Presidential elections, have not been spared either.

 Despite the frequent accusations levelled at the Police of alleged wanton killing and brutality, our records indicate that between 2nd and 16th October, 2017, four deaths have occurred as a result of Police intervention to stop violent demonstrations. Ten police officers have been injured and seven persons arrested who have been charged in court.
